The Red Reaper Counterflow Chiller has been engineered to be fast and efficient taking advantage of tube-within-a-tube cooling which is designed to rapidly chill wort in a single pass.
It is made out of Copper and PEX (Cross-Linked Polyethylene) Tubing which offers superior durability, flexibility, pressure resistance, temperature resistance and long-term reliability. The PEX outer tubing is swaged and soldered directly to the copper wort pipe ensuring a secure, permanent seal that household water pressure will never compromise.
It works by pumping hot wort through the internal copper tubing while cold water flows in the opposite direction through the surrounding PEX layer, maximizing heat exchange across the entire length of the chiller. This counterflow process delivers fast cooling from a rolling boil down to pitching temperatures with exceptional consistency.
Like with other counterflow chillers, the design provides a larger internal flow path compared to that of a plate chiller, greatly reducing the risk of hop-related clogs while maintaining excellent thermal transfer.
