WLP 013 - London Ale Yeast
WLP013 London Yeast is an excellent strain for brewing British Milds, Brown Ales, Stouts, Porters, as well as ESBs and IPAs. It finishes fairly dry, all the while retaining an interesting malty flavour, especially when a complex grain bill is employed, while also adding the peculiar oaky notes that work so well in dark beers.
When brewing hop-forward ales, WLP013 lets the hop character come through nicely, which has earned it a popular position among professional brewers who use it for IPAs and Pale Ales.
|Description:||While sharing the general British feel of strains such as WLP002 and WLP005, WLP013 London Ale Yeast has a defined character of its own that may definitely play an important role in a number of beer styles.
This strain is characterized by somewhat lower flocculation and, respectively, higher attenuation if compared to other British strains.
What really makes this yeast special is its peculiar ether profile, which is defined by light notes of oak and wood that add complexity to malt-forward beers, while not getting in the way of hop aroma and bitterness.
