Although Juniper Berries are associated as being the principal flavouring of gin, juniper has been used in porters, stouts, doppelbocks and many other styles of beer for centuries as well. The flavour can complement well with rye beer and blends well with the citrus notes of ginger or orange peel, and also licorice root and coriander.
