Maltodextrin - 8 oz (226 g)
Maltodextrin is a very useful ingredient that allows you to get fuller body and richer texture with virtually any beer style you’ve decided to brew.
It is a polysaccharide made from starch that is not fermentable by most strains of brewers yeast, which means that it contributes to body and sweetness of the finished beer.
Flavour-wise it is quite similar to maltose, which means that it can be easily integrated into various beer flavour profiles without contributing an artificial or inappropriate taste.
|Usage:||Maltodextrin is usually added to the wort during the boil, which makes it a very practical ingredient for both extract and all-grain recipes. The addition rates depend on the results you want to obtain, though it is recommended to keep them under 15% for best results.
Despite the high sugar content, Maltodextrin tends to deliver less of apparent sweetness, and more of body and a denser mouthfeel, which is particularly useful when brewing full-bodied low ABV beer styles such as Brown Ale, Sweet Stout, and many others.
