Torrified Wheat by Thomas Fawcett & Sons offers an excellent way to get the distinct “wheat grain” character in a beer.
While the wheat was heat treated during the production process, it wasn’t malted, so torrified wheat should not be seen as a substitute to wheat malt.
|Description:||When used in amounts up to 8% of the total grain bill Torrified Wheat will contribute to a fuller body and better head retention, which can be beneficial in many British ale recipes.
When used in larger amounts it will deliver a distinct haziness and raw wheat flavour, which is often required in Belgian Witbiers and German Heffeweizens. A dedicated protein rest may be required for better results.
