WLP545 Belgian Strong Ale Yeast is exactly what one would expect from a strain with such a name. Hailing from the Ardennes region of Belgium, this traditional yeast is characterized by subdued ester and phenol production compared to other Belgian strains, delivering nice balanced beers with a dry finish. WLP545 is a very good attenuator, reaching up to 85% in certain cases while also tolerating high alcohol levels. This makes it perfect for making various types of Belgian Ales, especially Dark Strong Ales, Abbey Ales, and Christmas Beers.

Description WLP545 Belgian Strong Ale will suit brewers who want to obtain a general Belgian flavour with their beers, but without putting a strong emphasis on spicy phenolics or fruity esters.

Beers produced with this strain tend to be both dry and full-bodied, which is particularly interesting when making Dark Strong Ales. Thanks to the subdued ester and phenol character, both the malts and the hops flavours do not get tuned out in the overall palate, making WLP545 a good choice for making Belgian Pale Ales, IPAs, Bocks, and Porters as well.
