This base malt is essential to the making of any rye beer, such as Roggenbier. It adds a spicy flavour to the brew.

Description: Weyermann Rye Malt is an irreplaceable ingredient when it comes to brewing specialty rye beers, as it’s the very thing that adds the distinct rye tang to the beer’s flavour profile.

The malt is produced from high quality German rye and is deeper in colour if compared to Pilsner or Pale ale malts. It has some enzymatic power to be used with adjuncts and specialty malts, however it still requires some base malt in the grain bill for better results.

Flavour-wise, Weyermann Rye Malt delivers a pronounced bready character that is associated with rye, and is an integral part of specialty Rye Ales and Lagers, as well as certain Holiday and Seasonal beers. Can make up to 60% of the total grain bill.
