Description: | Undoubtedly the most German hop variety out there, Hallertau is one of the four noble varieties that is strongly associated with German brewing traditions. Stemming from an old landrace that has been cultivated for centuries, Hallertau delivers a very modest alpha acid content that is compensated by the trademark noble aroma. Traditionally, Hallertau has been used both for bittering and aroma, yet now it is primarily a finishing hop that is used solely for its delicate floral, herbal and slightly spicy aroma. This hop should go into anything Germany-related in terms of beer style, because Hallertau is what defines most of the classic German beers. |
