Liquid & Dry Malt Extract

Liquid & Dry Malt Extract

LME or Liquid Malt Extract is the dehydrated liquid (wort) that looks like a molasses-like syrup. Typically, LME is a grain mash wort that has approximately 80% of the liquid removed.

Dry Malt Extract (DME) undergoes a secondary dehydration process, reducing its water content to approximately 2%. Opting for DME offers a malt extract with an extended shelf life and easy measuring. It's crucial to store DME in an airtight environment, as exposure to moisture can cause it to clump together.

Both liquid and dry malt extract have their benefits, so be sure you select the one that makes sense for your brew setup.
