Flemish Ale Blend - WLP 665
When you’re feeling experimental and want to explore the abundant waters of Belgian sour beers, WLP665 Flemish Ale Yeast Blend will always be the perfect choice for making complex and flavour-rich Flemish Reds and Browns.
This particular blend consists of Saccharomyces and Brettanomyces yeasts and Pediococcus and Lactobacillus bacteria, balanced in a unique way to mimic the wild fermentation character of ales made in the West Flanders region of Belgium.
|Description||Flemish Red and Brown Ales have always been in a category of their own when it comes to sour ales, as their flavour and aroma is very rich with stone fruit notes. This is largely due to the unique blend of microorganisms that has been used by Flemish brewers in their wild fermentations for centuries.
WLP665 meticulously recreates the balance of yeasts and bacteria found in Flemish ales that contributes a very complex and interesting sour character.
Please note that making a starter with this blend is not recommended, as it will throw off the gentle balance of microorganisms. Pitching multiple vials is the way to go.
