Traditional for most Belgian ale recipes, candi sugar and candi syrup are composed of simple highly fermentable sugars that help to obtain higher ABV without using too much malt, which results in lighter body and drier finish.
Just add the syrup to the boiling wort or after primary fermentation has been carried out, and you will get a very complex flavour profile common to Belgian ales.

It is a traditional ingredient in Belgian Dubbels, Tripels, Dark and Golden Strong Ales, Blonde Ales and many other Belgian beers, though it can also be used for reaching higher ABV in most other strong beer styles such as Barleywine, Imperial Stout, or Double IPA.
It contributes a very pleasant flavour mix comprised of honey, toffee, caramel and lightly toasted bread. Usually contributes up to 15% of the total grain bill.
