Usage: Bittering

Aroma: Pungent, black pepper, licorice characteristics with subtle citrus overtones.
Description: Also known as Tomahawk, Columbus is a very robust and versatile dual purpose hop that will definitely find its way into a broad set of recipes during your brewing experiments. Oregon-bred, Columbus is one of the earliest “new wave” varieties that paved the way for modern hop-forward craft beers we all know and love.

It is a dual purpose hop with a very substantial alpha acid content that results in a pronounced, yet very refreshing bitterness with hints of citrus tang. When added late in the boil, Columbus lends the beer a more pronounced citrus character that can be enhanced and amplified by using aroma hop varieties.

Mostly used in hop-forward American styles, Columbus can easily be employed in a very broad range of styles.
